ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey has confirmed that the channel is currently in discussion with Marvel to roll out another television show on ABC.
In a recent interview with Deadline during the Television Critics Association summer session, Dungey revealed that ABC is in talks to launch another Marvel series on the broadcast network. She refrained to reveal any more details about the collaboration beyond the fact that she is excited about it.
“In terms of Marvel, we have some things that we are in discussions with them right now that we are in development,” Dungrey said. “I’m very excited about it.”
Marvel’s collaboration with ABC began with the inception of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. back in 2013. The cult favorite television series is soon going to enter its sixth season, which is scheduled to go on air next summer. Notably, after the cancellation of Agent Carter and the failure of Inhumans, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is the only Marvel series that is currently airing on the ABC network.
During the interview, the ABC Entertainment President also discussed the future of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. She said the channel is hoping the show will prove successful in its summer run, leaving the option open for a seventh season.
“It’s my hope that by moving it to summer, where our live-same-day ratings are less important and it might be able to continue for longer,” Dungrey said.
It still remains unknown as to which Marvel character or team will finally make its way to a new television series. Well, there is a possibility that ABC and Marvel might roll out one of the several projects that have been in development throughout the years, including Damage Control, Marvel’s Most Wanted and an untitled John Ridley project. However, the greater chance is that ABC and Marvel will come up with a brand new and unknown series.
More information about the new potential Marvel series is expected to come up in the near future.
