Across the Spider-Verse – Gwen Stacy & Spider-Man fall in love in all timelines of the multiverse, reveals rumor

Miles Morales has come a long way since his awkward “Shoulder Touch” moment with Gwen Stacy and in Across the Spider-Verse, the friendly neighborhood superhero seems to have improved on his social skills – or at least according to a new breadcrumb info from a Marvel insider. If the latest rumor holds any weight, Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen’s love interest might be a constant that occurs on all timelines but it sadly comes at a cost.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse will not only be dangling with multiple spideys from the multiverse but would also introduce five new universes – one of which was teased in the trailer to be Pavitr Prabhakar’s Earth-50101 a.k.a Mumbattan. But even with all the dangerous stakes threatening the fabric of space and time, the sequel, at its heart, focuses on the love story element between Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy, as revealed by Sony Pictures head Amy Pascal.

The new hi-res still released for Across the Spider-Verse has been making the rounds on the internet. The focus is entirely on how Miles Morales looks at Gwen, a callback to the “Shoulder touch” technique he learned from Uncle Aaron Davis. The image also prompted insider CanWeGetSomeToast to share a “fun fact” related to Spider-Man and Gwen’s romantic connection.

While every timeline is unique with its own version of Spider-Man donned by identities that aren’t related to Parker or Morales such as Miguel O’Hara – Gwen apparently reveals to Miles that every variant of Gwen eventually “fall for Spider-Man, and how that doesn’t end well for them.” But according to CWGST, “Miles very smoothly goes, “there’s a first time for everything right?””. Readers can check it out below.

The Marvel insider also added the scene is a “decent emotional moment” even though it sounds like Miles is just trying his luck ignoring the consequences of Gwen Stacy potentially dying. Even so, it might not be that easy to win over Gwen as he seems to be stuck in a love triangle with Hobie Brown’s Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya) being the hurdle.

Across the Spider-Verse co-director, Kemp Powers teased that “there’s jealousy” in Miles when he finds out Gwen and Spider-Punk have been spending time together in London. “When Miles meets Gwen again, she’s not wearing her ballet shoes; she’s wearing Converse Chuck Taylors, which Spider-Punk gave her. Miles starts wondering, ‘How close are these two?'”

It will be interesting to see Spider-Man get into a competition with another Spidey over Gwen when it’s usually characters like Flash Thompson that’s been a thorn to him. But will Miles have to lose Gwen once again, especially when the Marvel fandom is still hung over the character’s death from Andrew Garfield‘s The Amazing Spider-Man 2? All shall be answered when Across the Spider-Verse arrives in theaters on June 2.
