Miles Morales’ Spider-Man (Shameik Moore) will have his world turned upside down once again in Across the Spider-Verse. Though the sequel at heart is teased to explore Miles and Gwen Stacy’s (Hailee Steinfeld) love story – the plot revolves around the Spider-people from different dimensions protecting the multiverse from The Spot (Jason Schwartzman). In fact, a few new images tease the versions of Spider-Men (and woman, Jessica Drew) in action.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is not just getting bigger but delves deeper into the multiverse introducing fans to newcomers like Mumbattan’s Spider-Man India while revisiting known faces like Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson). Speaking of, the latest stills courtesy of Empire’s May 2023 edition, have offered a glimpse of these superheroes at play.
Starting off with Gwen Stacy as Spider-Gwen web-slinging across the city and is quite acrobatic doing it. Note that Gwen is rocking her new converse instead of the ballet shoes, (our Spider-senses indicate a jealous Miles Morales somewhere in the multiverse).
Gwen Stacy has made new multiverse friends in Across the Spider-Verse but it’s her bond with Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya) that stands out for Miles. It’s expected to play a love triangle in the movie but in terms of the New London universe’s character interacting with Gwen, Steinfeld says, “There’s an incredible banter between him and Gwen. But mutual respect, too. It’s one of my favorite dynamics in this movie.”
An earlier still released by the magazine gave away Spider-Man 2099’s (Oscar Isaac) fight against the Vulture. Miguel O’Hara’s spidey seems to be the leader of the multiverse-defending group of Spider-people. But he also physically confronts an unmasked Miles Morales. However, this shot was shown in s the trailer.
Miles Morales also comes in contact with The Spot again and seems to be alone unlike his first fight with the Spider-verse 2 villain with Spider-Gwen backing him up. Readers can check out the images below.
Jessica Drew can also be seen in one of the images riding her iconic motorcycle with Spider-Man 2099 by her side. “She makes probably the greatest entrance in movie history,” promises Pascal speaking to Empire. It doesn’t come as a surprise since her arrival in the trailer stopping her wheels on Vulture is in itself quite the entrance.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is scheduled to release in theaters on June 6.
