It seems actress Rosario Dawson, who played Claire Temple aka The Night Nurse throughout most of the Netflix’s Marvel series, is finally done with the Marvel TV universe. Dawson has appeared in every series including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders with the exception of The Punisher and the second season of Iron Fist.
Addressing the crowd during a panel at the 2018 Tribeca TV fest on Saturday, Dawson opened up about her emotional final scene on Luke Cage and revealed that the scene was sort of intended to act as a culmination of her character’s three-year stint in the MCU.
“I felt really grateful,” the actress said according to IndieWire, “because Cheo Hodari Coker was the showrunner, and it was kind of looking like, at least for that season, who knows if I’ll come back again? This was looking like it was going to be a big final scene for Claire, and it was really as a culmination of three years and being on five different shows.”
Talking about Claire and Luke Cage’s (Mike Colter) break up scene in the episode titled, “Wig Out,” Dawson said that it was originally tipped more towards Luke’s side of things and she pushed to make it more balanced.
“When the scene was first written, to be honest, it was a little bit more written on his side and his storyline and that kind of stuff,” she said. “And I approached Cheo and had the audacity of adding some lines and rewriting some stuff and asked him if that could work.”
Notably, this isn’t the first time that Rosario Dawson has teased her exit from the Marvel franchise. Back in May at MCM Comic Con in London, the actress said that she didn’t know if she would be back after the second season of Luke Cage. Marvel is yet to confirm the news.
