The demons and witches of Marvel Universe are all set for a full-blown live-action adaptation in Agatha: Coven of Chaos and if rumors are true, Sacha Baron Cohen may also appear in the Disney Plus series as Mephisto though it’s unclear what his involvement could mean for the WandaVision spin-off series.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos is slowly shaping into one of the most anticipated Disney Plus series thanks to its star-studded cast. In fact, Deadline reported on December 21, 2022, that Patti LuPone had signed on to play an undisclosed role. While WandaVision portrayed Kathryn Hahn‘s Harkness as the villain hiding in plain sight (“Agatha all along”) – the upcoming Agatha-centric TV show is expected to show Aubrey Plaza in an antagonist role.
After dropping hints of Mephisto in She-Hulk, it seemed like the Devil’s debut was right around the corner although Marvel has remained mum. But going by credible insider MyTimeToShineHello, Sacha Baron Cohen “secretly filmed” scenes in Los Angeles.
There were early speculations Mephisto could be Agatha’s husband but that never panned out. Moreover, in Marvel comics, Agatha and Mephisto were only connected by Scarlet Witch and didn’t share direct ties. But that could change in MCU, perhaps the devil plays his part in amplifying Agatha’s dark energy.

As far as what WandaVision has revealed about Agatha so far, she was part of a Coven during the Salem Witch Trials. But her own sisters decided to kill her when they learned about her forbidden activities with dark magic. She ultimately slayed everyone from her coven but was unable to face Scarlet Witch’s full might.
The spin-off is expected to be a prequel and origin story for Agatha so it seems the series will flesh out the aforementioned backstory though its unclear how Cohen’s role will play in Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Fans have long speculated Mephisto will appear in the show with even Hahn stating during a November 2021 interview, “probably possible, but like, I have never heard anything definitive about that at all.”
it’s still possible for Marvel Studios to change plans though it would depend on the relevance of the character’s presence in the series. It’s unclear if Mephisto will just play a cameo or have a bigger presence in the spin-off’s plot.

Cohen’s Mephisto role was earlier described as a demon lord in the Ironheart series. He is seemingly the main villain although he’ll act through The Hood.
