‘Ain’t getting a sequel’ – The Flash’s Andy Muschietti supporting Ezra Miller’s return for second installment gets backlash from Henry Cavill fans, Grant Gustin’s portrayal gets praised

The Flash director Andy Muschietti supporting Ezra Miller‘s potential return, if DC Studios greenlights a sequel has not sat well with fans. Many have voiced their concern over the actor facing no repercussions for their past controversial behavior. Henry Cavill stans are irked since Zack Snyder’s Justice League star was recast and are also calling for the Barry Allen role to be replaced with a new actor.

Ezra Miller has found an ally in Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti or at least that’s what DCU fans believe ever since hearing the filmmakers rave about working with the Fantastic Beasts star. In addition, Miller’s performance in The Flash has almost swept his actions under the carpet to the point where many believe his antics may be forgotten following the success of the speedster film.

Muschietti recently addressed if Miller could return for a follow-up while speaking to The Playlist. “If [a sequel] happens, yes,” the director said. “I don’t think there’s anyone that can play that character as well as they did. The other depictions of the character are great, but with this particular vision of the character, they just excelled in doing it. And, as you said, the two Barrys – it feels like a character that was made for them.”

The statement has many fans rebutting Andy’s claim that Grant Gustin portrayed the best Barry Allen adaptation. Whereas Cavill stans, who still dwell over the Superman actor’s unfair exit are also criticizing the possibility of Miller remaining in the DCEU role.

Fans argue Grant Gustin’s The Flash did a better portrayal of the speedster role

Since critics and fans got to witness The Speedster feature at CinemaCon and early previews – there have been questions if Miller has future in DCU. DC Studios head James Gunn last addressed the query at the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 premiere to say, “We’re just going to have to wait and see.” From the looks of it, the decision is yet to be made though some fans believe Gunn would proceed with a full reboot to start with a clean slate.

Meanwhile, Henry Cavill apparently told Supergirl actor Sasha Calle that he “saw the [Flash] movie” and loved it. Readers can check out reactions below.

It’s unclear if DC Studios would address Flash’s future anytime soon as the focus currently falls on the new DCU setting off with Superman: Legacy. Moreover, it’s possible the decision to sign on Miller for future DCU projects could be determined by Flash movie’s box office returns.

The Flash will arrive in theaters on June 16.
