‘Another faceless Henry Cavill’ -The Flash International spot reveals Superman’s cameo but DCEU fans are upset, WB confirms use of Zack Snyder’s Justice League aesthetics in movie

Henry Cavill fans are upset over The Flash movie’s Superman cameo for following the same route that James Gunn opted for with Peacemaker‘s finale – featuring a faceless Man of Steel. The big reveal was given away in an international TV Spot which shows Barry Allen witnessing the superhero in action through a TV news report.

The Flash is just weeks away from its theatrical release so WBD’s DC Studios is amping up the marketing. Moreover, the studio has been hosting fan screenings for the speedster flick to help spread the word on what’s been positioned as one of the best CBM titles. However, with a slow $70-75 million opening projection – many fans have argued the movie has failed to cater to the Snyderverse followers which could ultimately affect its earnings.

The brief appearance is a blink-and-you-miss-it moment that appears to show the Man of Steel using his laser vision to stop a volcanic eruption. The only proof that it is Cavill’s iteration of Supes comes from the use of Zack Snyder‘s Man of Steel suit in the scene similar to the 2019’s Shazam! cameo.

Henry Cavill’s fanbase seems utterly displeased by the cameo calling it, “The faceless Superman trilogy is complete” referring to the 2019’s Shazam and Peacemaker appearance. Though filmmaker Andy Muschietti recently stated he “honored” the characters created under Zack Snyder’s vision.

WB has also noted in the film’s production notes that Zack Snyder’s Justice League was used for the aesthetic decisions in The Flash. Even so, the movie uses John Williams‘ Superman theme rather than Hans Zimmer‘s track from MOS according to Soundtrack album credits.

“Production designer Paul Denham Austerberry was charged with creating a cohesive and contemporary visual language that bridges the two worlds that collide… the Anton Furst designs from Tim Burton’s BATMAN and Patrick Tatopoulos’ work from Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE.”

On the bright side, Sasha Calle‘s performance as Supergirl may have won over the DCU fandom as a whole. Moreover, the actress claims Cavill also gave his approval. Though it is unclear if her version has a future in DCU with no word yet if DC Studios’ Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow would feature a new actor playing Kara Danvers.

The Flash will open in theaters on June 13.
