Anson Mount reacts with Black Bolt scene to Zachary Levi’s edited video comment on Shazam 2 vs John Wick 4’s box office, fans say it was taken out of context

Anson Mount had a subtle ‘Black Bolt’ response to an edited clip of Shazam 2 star Zachary Levi, which shows the Fury of the Gods actor saying “we are a far better film” while discussing about John Wick 4. However, the video in question has been edited out of context to portray the DCU actor in a bad light.

With over a 68% fall, Shazam 2 earned a weak $9.7 million on the second weekend at the box office – a considerable drop for a DC film made on a $100 million budget. While Lionsgate’s John Wick 4 was also a $100M production but the action thriller has raked in $73.5M on the opening weekend.

UPDATE: Anson Mount issued a public apology to Zachary Levi in a thread of tweets detailing his interaction with the Shazam 2 star

As the titular star for Shazam! Fury of the Gods – Zachary Levi has been doing his part in promoting the film through his Instagram live. In this week’s recent stream, Levi attempted to persuade the live chat audience to watch Shazam! Fury of the Gods, “John Wick is not a family movie.”

The actor continued to discuss Chad Stahelski‘s film as the action-heavy guns-wielding blockbuster it is known for while positioning Fury of the Gods as a lighthearted family entertainer. Unfortunately, Parts of Levi’s live video were edited to convey the DCU star discouraging John Wick 4.

Levi’s edited clip caught Doctor Strange 2 star Anson Mount’s attention on Twitter. The Black Bolt actor retweeted the video with an image of the Inhumans King shushing. Many presumed Mount was mocking the Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ lead actor.

To clarify, Zachary Levi’s “we are a far better film” statement was immediately followed up with “than some of these critics, reviewers have given us credit for.” The Shazam 2 actor did not take a dig at John Wick Chapter 4. Though it did not stop Mount from reacting to the video (Even so, it’s highly unlikely the Star Trek actor was in the loop with the conversation to realize it was edited).

Mount was faced with his share of criticism from fans as well since the actor was the lead of the lowest-rated Marvel show, ABC’s Inhumans.  Fortunately, Levi fans were quick to share the real footage. Readers can check it out below.

Zachary has been caught up in drama since offering his two cents to The Wrap’s reporting on Dwayne Johnson reportedly blocking Justice Society cameo in Shazam! Fury of the Gods post-credits scene. Moreover, Levi’s interaction with the Snyderverse fandom has also not worked in his favor.

Warner Bros. film’s DC Studios CEOs have been mum regarding Shazam! Fury of the Gods box office performance so far. Though James Gunn is likely to have his hands full working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is nearly picture locked whilst handling the DC Universe.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is currently in theaters worldwide.
