Marvel fans are already excited to see Ant-Man interacting with the original ensemble of earth’s mightiest heroes in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame. Till now, there was no word if Marvel would go on to further explore the character with an Ant-Man 3 movie. but fortunately, the studio is already looking into the possibility.
During a Television Critics Association set visit to Michael Douglas’ Netflix show, The Kominsky Method, the actor addressed the question regarding a third Ant-Man movie. It looks like both Douglas and Marvel are on board in making an Ant-Man 3 but there have been formal talks yet.
“There’s been talk [about another Ant-Man]… [but] there’s been nothing formal right now that I know of,” said Douglas according to ET. “They always kind of spring it on me. The first time you hear about it, it’s already in its third rewrite.”
Fans last saw Douglas’ Hank Pym in Ant-Man and The Wasp and the character ended up being a victim to Thanos’ snap in the end credits of the sequel movie. Ant-Man managed to survivie the incident but was shown drifting alone in the Quantum Realm. In any case, Douglas will be returning in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame but the actor didn’t want to comment anything regarding his involvement with the final movie in Marvel’s Phase 3 to avoid giving away any spoilers.
“You know I can’t say a word about that,” Douglas teased, when pressed for details on how his character fits into Avengers: Endgame. “They have one of those machines that, as soon as you say the word ‘Avengers,’ a blowgun comes to the side of my neck.”
It seems likely that Marvel Studios would go ahead with making an Ant-Man 3 movie for its phase 3 since this isn’t the first time there’s a mention about a threequel. Even Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed has revealed that he has ideas for making this a trilogy.
Fans will next see Ant-Man, The Wasp, Hank Pym and possibly other characters from the Ant-Man movies in Avengers: Endgame which releases on April 26.
