Marvel fans are quite excited for the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp which is the next entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well, the wait is not only for the film’s protagonists Ant-Man and Wasp, but also to know more about the villain Ghost who is making a debut in the MCU. Nothing much is known about Ghost’s history except that the villainous character first appeared as a male villain in 1987’s Iron Man #219.
Actress Hannah John-Kamen, who is portraying Ghost in Ant-Man and the Wasp, claimed during an interview with IGN that her character might be an antagonist for Scott Lang aka Ant-Man and Hope van Dyne aka Wasp, but she is the good guy in her mind and everyone else is bad for her.
“I approach the character not like okay she’s a villain she’s bad you know, she’s a threat, definitely, to the protagonists,” John-Kamen said during an interview with IGN. “She has an objective and she’s the good guy in her mind and everyone else is bad.”
John-Kamen said that while playing the character of an anti-hero it’s important to find the balance within the character rather than keeping the character under a completely good or completely evil bracket.
“You’ve got to find, I find, the humanity in whatever you’re playing when you are playing the antihero in a movie I think you really have to find the balance thereof the threat but also the vulnerability with that, that comes with that,” the actress explained.
John-Kamen also credited Marvel for their creation of a dynamic world in Ant-Man and the Wasp where no one is necessarily good or bad.
Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man and the Wasp is set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. The film is currently tracking to rake in a weekend opening of around $75 million. The film debuts in theaters on July 6.
