Ant-Man And The Wasp: Laurence Fishburne Talks How He Got Involved In The MCU

Ant-Man and The Wasp actor Laurence Fishburne is all set to play the character known as Bill Foster, Hank Pym’s former colleague, in the soon to be released film. While the two used to work together on many projects in the past including Project Goliath, they currently share a strained relationship in the film. The two are sort of scientific rivals who are both geniuses in quantum physics and quantum mechanics.

During Ant-Man and the Wasp’s official press conference, Fishburne detailed how his love for comic book movies and Marvel helped him grab the role of Bill Foster/Goliath. Notably, the actor is not new to Marvel Cinematic Universe. He had previously voiced the character of the Silver Surfer in 2007 film Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

It is not the first Marvel role to come my way,” Fishburne said, reported ComicBook.com. “I’ve been a reader since I was eight. I’ve been a fan my whole life. Really enjoyed the movies and what they’ve done with the MCU … I realized that I was on the lot of Marvel and working on ABC’s Blackish and remembered I had worked with Louis Desposito and realized I should go talk to them and say, ‘Hey, what do I gotta do to be in the movies?’ And they were kind enough to say, ‘We’ll think about that Fish!‘”

At the Hollywood premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Fishburne revealed how his character Bill Foster is surprisingly connected to the film’s villain Ghost played by Hannah John-Kamen. He disclosed that Ghost is sort of his surrogate daughter. This piece of information by no means confirms that Foster will play a hard-core villain in the film, but it definitely teases that Bill Foster might be playing more of an antagonistic role than previously believed.

According to Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed, the upcoming movie will open with Bill Foster teaching quantum physics at Berkeley.

We will get to know about Laurence Fishburne’s Bill Foster when Ant-Man and the Wasp hit theatres on July 6th.
