Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania – MODOK looks menacing in leaked merchandise

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will see Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) face another supervillain besides Kang and that is MODOK. Some lucky fans witnessed the villain’s mech suit at SDCC 2022 but were surprised to notice Marvel Studios had reinvented the character’s look for live-action. Finally, a first look at the Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing has been revealed from leaked merchandise.

MCU Phase 5 looks to welcome a plethora of new characters from the Marvel lore and that includes MODOK. A new preview for Ant-Man 3 was screened at the D23 Expo which included shots of Kang the Conqueror tasking Ant-Man with a heist but the mastermind cyborg was nowhere to be seen. Nevertheless, insiders earlier noted that MODOK’s role is extensive and he will serve as Kang’s advisor. That may explain his menacing eerie design, as showcased on the merch below.

If the details shared by insiders are true, MODOK could be the mastermind behind Ant-Man’s unexpected arrival to Kang’s location. That could explain Marvel’s decision to keep MODOK’s involvement hush-hush.

MODOK’s eyes are shown glowing in red but it’s unclear if that is part of the character build or just a design factor made particularly for the merchandise. Still, the egomaniacal supervillain’s design looks nothing similar to the Hulu animated series, M.O.D.O.K. voiced by Patton Oswalt. For the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tony McCarthy reportedly plays the humanoid version.

Ant-Man 3 will introduce several new faces such as Cassie Lang played by Kathryn Newton, and her charisma is already generating a Young Avengers buzz among fans. In addition, Bill Murray will appear as Krylar, and according to the recent footage displayed at D23, the character pops up in the Quantum Realm after Ant-Man’s family are sucked into it by forces beyond their control.

Directed by Peyton Reed from a script penned by Jeff Loveness, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania also stars Michelle Pfeiffer returning as Janet Van Dyne, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym and Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne and The Wasp.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will hit theatres on February 17, 2023.
