New story details and images about Marvel Studio’s Ant-Man & the Wasp have been revealed. The Ant-Man sequel will see Scott Lang a.k.a. Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Hope van Dyne a.k.a. the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), and scientist Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) trying to rescue Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer).
Janet van Dyne is Hope’s mother and Hank’s wife who got stuck in Quantum Realm, an alternate dimension into which she disappeared decades ago. After Scott Lang was able to come back from the Quantum Realm in the original Ant-man film, Hope and Hank are hopeful that they might retrieve Janet Van Dyne from the Quantum Realm, reported Entertainment Weekly.
Notably, the first Ant-Man & The Wasp trailer didn’t feature Janet. But, it did tease a mission to rescue Wasp.
“Scott entered the Quantum Realm in the first film and came back, which is something they thought was impossible,” Lilly told EW. “The question has arisen, ‘Can Janet come back?’ So the entire film, my character is hell-bent on finding a way to get into the Quantum Realm and bring her back.”
The outlet has also released two new images of Ant-Man and Wasp together. You can check out the pictures below.
Talking more about Ant-Man & The Wasp, the two bug-sized Marvel superheroes will be seen battling against the main villain Ghost, played by Hannah John-Kamen (Ready Player One).
“The Ghost character could be male, female, anything, so it just seemed more interesting to us [to cast a woman],” director Peyton Reed said. “Ghost’s primary power is the ability to ‘phase,’ which allows Ghost to move through solid matter. She has all sorts of strange versions of that phasing power — it proves quite difficult for Ant-Man and Wasp to deal with.”
Ant-Man & the Wasp will debut in theaters on July 6, 2018.
