Ant-Man and the Wasp Star Evangeline Lilly Shares Official Picture Of Her Costume

Ant-Man and the Wasp recently began production. The sequel will see Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang aka Ant-Man joining forces with Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne aka The Wasp on a secret mission.

With the movie currently filming in Atlanta, Lilly herself decided to honor the late comic book icon Jack Kirby by sharing the first picture of her superhero, The Wasp.

Screen Rant reported that Lilly took to her Twitter account and shared the first picture of her superhero character Wasp. She played an important role in the first movie but never wore the costume in it.

In a mid-credits scene, her father Hank Pym showed her the original Wasp costume, which her mother Janet Van Dyne once wore. This hinted that she too would step in her shoes at one point of time. With the sequel being the best possibility, Lilly finally gets to shine as she turns into a superhero in it.

In her Twitter post, she honored the late Jack Kirby, who was Stan Lee collaborator and is also credited as the Wasp’s creator. She thanked him and stated how honored she is to be playing a superhero.

Earlier, the actress was spotted filming her part for the sequel. A set photo confirmed that Lilly was in fact filming wearing the costume but didn’t get paparazzi’s a chance to get a sneak peek at the suit.

No official synopsis for the sequel has been revealed yet but it has been confirmed that the events of the movie will take place after the events of Captain America: Civil War.

With that happening, there are chances Lang’s Ant-Man will be seen as a wanted man especially since he was on Captain’s side in the movie that tore Avengers in half. How does he make a re-appearance in the sequel would be interesting to see and what exactly will he do to prove that he is still a good man in front of the law will be worth watching.

The picture of Lilly’s Wasp too seems to be taken at a school, which leads many to believe that Hope must be checking on Lang’s daughter Cassie in his absence. Cassie was also seen in Ant-Man.

Another important factor the movie has to show is its connectivity with other movies in the MCU. Avengers: Infinity War is currently the biggest Marvel project that will release months before the sequel.

So it would be paramount to show where does the story of Ant-Man and the Wasp take place amidst the big invasion of Thanos and his army. Another movie the sequel has to connect with is Ant-Man.

The first movie hinted at a major theory of Hope’s mother Janet being alive in the Quantum realm aka the sub-atomic universe. With Doctor Strange opening the possibility of a multiverse, maybe the sequel will see Hope going sub-atomic with hopes of finding her mother well and alive.

It remains to be seen which way does the story of the sequel steer and which new antagonist is introduced in the MCU. Ant-Man and the Wasp will release next year on July 6.
