‘Aquaman’ Director James Wan Shares New BTS Photo Of Atlantis & Its Broken Structures

Fans are just days away from SDCC 2018 where Warner Bros. will debut the first trailer for Aquaman. Though the dates for the most awaited event is closing in, the sheer hype for the DC film has made it harder to keep fans at bay with no new content. Fortunately, a throwback BTS picture from director James Wan might do the trick.

Wan recently took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes photo captured during the filming of Aquaman. On first look, fans may find it harder to breakdown what this scene could be as it shows nothing but bluescreen surrounding the entire area and a dolly.

Love this dolly concocted by the talented grip/camera dept. I seem to have a rickshaw contraption on all my shoots. #throwback,” wrote Wan. Fans can check out the photo below.

A closer look and viewers can notice broken ancient infrastructure around the dolly. If you remember your history, the style of its structure shouts it’s from the Roman times. Moreover, the scripture on the column says “ROMULUS’ which confirms that this is indeed a scene from Atlantis.

In Roman myth, it is believed that Romulus and his twin brother Remus are two important figures and whose stories are connected to the founding of the city of Rome. And for those unaware, Atlantis was a fictional island which was mentioned in an allegory in Plato’s Timaeus and Critias. So Atlantis’ roots are connected to Rome.

It’s interesting to know that director James Wan may have gone deep into the roots of the legend of Atlantis. It looks like we can expect a ton more of Easter eggs connecting to the mythical story as well as mentions to story from DC Comics as well.

Perhaps, the upcoming trailer may give fans more insight on Atlantis and what can be expected of the movie.

Aquaman is currently set to hit theatres on December 21, 2018. But there have been rumors going around that it is possible that the studio may announce a change in release date during their Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-con 2018.
