Warner Bros. and DC Films recently conducted early test screenings for the Aquaman movie in Los Angeles and the first audiences’ reactions have started pouring in. The reactions indicate that James Wan’s epic underwater adventure is indeed a good film, but it looks like it might not be great enough to turn the tides for DCEU superhero universe.
WB has a lot of hopes for Aquaman as it is the first DC movie to get released after the Justice League debacle. The 2017 released Justice League didn’t perform as expected at the box office as it failed to impress critics as well as the audiences.
The reactions have come from Omega Underground’s Christopher Marc, Collider’s Steven Weintraub and The GWW’s KC Walsh who took to Twitter to share reactions of people who actually attended the Aquaman early screening.
Christopher Marcus noted that he’s heard that the movie is good, but not great. Steve Weintraub said he’s heard good things from those at the screenings, while KC Walsh compared Aquaman to Marvel Studios’ Phase 1 releases. You can out their Twitter posts below.
Big film studios often use audiences’ early screening feedback to make necessary final changes to a film before releasing it. As Aquaman is still four months away from its release, the makers have ample time to make any changes to the underwater superhero film.
Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm a.k.a. Ocean Master, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus and Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry.
Aquaman is currently set to debut in the U.S. on December 21, 2018. There are reports suggesting that the film studio has shifted Aquaman’s release date outside of the U.S. The film’s U.K. release date has reportedly been moved from Dec. 21 to Dec. 14, while the Australia release date has been shifted to Dec.13.
#Aquaman is a phase 1 MCU film through and through, so if you liked those you’ll love it, if you didn’t you probably won’t get much enjoyment out of Aquaman pic.twitter.com/ydH7XT1GK4

I hear it's good (not great) and that's all we can hope for in the end. I'll take it. pic.twitter.com/abrW3fEOgr
