After months of waiting, fans finally got a glimpse of DC’s latest superhero film Aquaman in a slew of pictures released exclusively by Entertainment Weekly. The pictures feature Jason Momoa’s Arthur, Amber Heard’s Mera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Black Manta, Patrick Wilson’s King Orm and more from the highly anticipated James Wan film.
Soon after the pictures were released, fans took to social media to praise the look of their favorite characters including Aquaman and Mera. While one of the pictures offered a detailed look at Mera’s new costume, which was first teased last year, the second one showcased Amber’s behind-the-scenes look. Mera made her first appearance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Heard has reprised the role in Aquaman.
Fans have filled Twitter with praises for the character. Some even claimed that Mera deserves to get her solo movie. You can check out their reaction in the tweets below.
Talking about the other pictures, Aquaman can be seen trying to storm a submarine under attack by pirates. There’s another one that shows Arthur Curry and Mera head on a quest on the surface world, with Mera holding a map.
The pictures offer the first look at Arthur’s ambitious brother King Orm (Patrick Wilson) who is the main antagonist in the film, High-seas mercenary Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) looking at the prototype helmet, Aquaman’s mentor Vulko (Willem Dafoe), and Queen Atlanna (Nicole Kidman), who is shown trying to protect a young Arthur. Director James Wan can also be seen framing a scene along with the actors.
You can check out all the pictures below.
DC Films and Warner Bros. recently showcased the first trailer at CineEurope 2018 event attendees in Barcelona, Spain. It is expected that the trailer will be rolled out in the next few days.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Aquaman producers and writers said the upcoming film will take fans to an underwater world which they have never seen or even imagined before. They believe that Aquaman will set the DC Universe on the right path when the film releases in theatres on December 21, 2018.
