UPDATE: Aquaman First Trailer Reaction Hails Film’s Special Effects, Humor & More

DC Films and Warner Bros. showcased the much-anticipated first Aquaman trailer during their presentation on Monday at the CineEurope 2018 event in Barcelona, Spain. The trailer was exclusively shown to the event attendees.

UPDATE: A recent report from Variety has stated that the trailer will be dropping in the next few days.

The first reaction to the trailer has come via Russian website KinoMetro.ru. According to the website, the trailer was full of “not only traditional action and dizzying special effects, but also good humor.” The report also added that unlike other DC films, the footage featured an “unusually bright picture.”

The trailer’s online debut is expected to follow. There’s every possible chance that WB will officially roll out first Aquaman trailer during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con presentation which is scheduled to be held in July.

It recently came to light that the filmmakers had a second screening for the movie to gauge audiences’ reaction. The film’s first screening was held back in February. Jason Momoa’s Aquaman first made a cameo appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and finally debuted in 2017’s Justice League.

While plot details for the upcoming film are currently under wraps, it is expected that the film will focus on the King of Atlantis and will dive much deeper into the character’s past. The film will finally offer an answer as to why the DC underwater superhero has been away from his home Atlantis for so many years. It will explore the discovery of his powers and his reluctance to accept his role as King.

Simon and Schuster Canada recently listed a book by Mike Avila titled The Art and Making of Aquaman that will offer some behind-the-scenes insight into the upcoming film.  It will feature some unseen set and costume photographs, storyboards, and concept sketches of the character.

The James Wan-directed Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus and Temuera Morrison and Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s parents Thomas Curry, and Queen Atlanna.

Aquaman will drop in theatres on December 21, 2018.
