Just before rolling out the first Aquaman trailer at the highly celebrated San Deigo Comic Con 2018 event, director James Wan took to Twitter to share a photo of an Aquaman poster which will be made available for fans at the SDCC event this weekend.
The Aquaman poster shown in the picture is the same but a cleaner and textless version of Den of Geek’s SDCC 2018 special edition magazine cover page. It features almost all the major characters from the movie including Arthur Curry as Jason Momoa, Mera as Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master Orm wearing the Atlantean war helmet, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta wearing the iconic helmet. The poster also has a lot of sea creatures popping up in the background including the terrifying undersea race, the Trench.
“Sweet! Large size poster for #SDCC2018 Family portrait —Ocean Master, Black Manta, Atlanna, Vulko, Nereus, Mera, Arthur, Fishermen, Brine, Trench, Atlantean Soldiers,” Wan’s caption for the picture read.

In an interview with Den of Geek, Aquaman producer Peter Safran revealed that the poster was inspired by classic comic book covers.
“The inspiration behind this original work was those classic comic book covers that gave the reader a look at the characters involved in the story and also hints of, and a feel for, their worlds,” Safran said. “It was commissioned by James Wan in the very early R and D stages of pre-production, as he was beginning to define the worlds in which our film would live. It was not originally intended to be one sheet, but we all loved it so much that we had the idea to transform it into a photorealistic version and use it as a poster.”
Pursue News also recently got it hands on a new Aquaman concept art featuring one of the fierce sea dragons from the kingdom of Xebel.
Aquaman is currently set to hit theatres on December 21, 2018. There are rumors that the filmmakers might decide to change the film’s release date in order to avoid competition from other big titles. We will have to wait and watch for Warner Bros. Hall H panel to find out if there’s any change in the film’s release schedule.
