While there’s still no news on when the first Aquaman trailer will roll out, a promotional banner for the film spotted at the 2018 Licensing Expo in Las Vegas offered the first look at Jason Momoa’s new Aquaman costume.
The promotional banner in question was put on display at the Licensing Expo next to Zachary Levi’s Shazam!. It offers a brand new look at Momoa’s Arthur Curry/Aquaman character in the upcoming solo film. Momoa can be seen wearing a more armored look set in an orange and green palette resembling the character’s classic comic book look.

As fans are impatiently waiting for the film’s trailer to release, actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II – who portrays the character of Black Manta, took to social media to assure fans that Warner Bros. has a definite plan in place for Aquaman’s trailer debut. However, he refused to reveal anything about the plan.
“If I did that it would RUIN EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING! It’d kill the entire publicity plan. You’ll be excited for maybe 30 minutes, then you’d have nothing to look forward to. You’d just be waiting again. So… No. I won’t tell you,” Abdul-Mateen II’s Twitter post read.
In an interview last month, actor Jason Momoa said that the upcoming film will highlight the titular character’s origin story as well as the reason behind Aquaman living away from his home Atlantis for so many years. All in all the film is expected to offer a real introduction of the character to the world.
Notably, some new Aquaman footage was showcased at the CinemaCon event last month. The footage showed Momoa as Arthur Curry, Patrick Wilson’s Orm the Ocean Master as well as a sneak peek of Abdul-Mateen’s Black Manta. During the event, director James Wan said that work on the trailer was still going on.
Rumors are that the film’s first trailer might get unveiled at the San Diego Comic-Con 2018 event, which is scheduled to take place in July this year.
Aquaman is set to premiere in theatres on December 21, 2018.
