A new image from James Wan directed Aquaman features shirtless Jason Momoa staring angrily at someone or something.
The new image of Aquaman/Arthur Curry revealed by USA Today seems to be an extension of the first look wherein he appeared shirtless and wet, fresh out of the water. The background is that of an industrial setting which resembles a ship or submarine.
Aquaman was officially introduced into the DCEU with Justice League, which met with lukewarm response from the domestic box office. The film mainly focused on Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman’s (Gal Gadot) character. Many scenes involving Mera and Atlantis, and Willem Dafoe’s Vulko were left in the editors’ room.
Wan will hence have a lot more freedom to explore as fans will get to see more of the Atlantean king and his pantheon.
Apart from Arthur Curry, Wan will introduce many more interesting characters that are part of the pages of DC Comics. Apart from Vulko and Mera, fans will get to meet the film’s villain. Arthur’s half-brother Ocean Master will be seen in the film. The movie-goers will also get to see our protagonist go up against Black Manta as well.
With the shooting of the film all wrapped up, fans can soon expect to see a full trailer featuring the Atlantean hero and his antics. The film will unravel the world of Aquaman as he realizes his place and power in both water and land. Wan previously said that for him Aquaman was a chance to “make something that is from our planet but at the same time, it’s a visual we’re not familiar with.”
Until the teaser is out, fans can expect to see a lot more of set photos, and official images with shirtless Momoa at the center to hold on to.
While it is still unknown what all we will get to see in the movie when it hits the theaters next year, this is for sure that the film will decide if Aquaman will continue to be a regular character in the DCEU.
Aquaman is expected to release in theaters on December 21, 2018.
