Aquaman: Nicole Kidman Talks Playing Queen Atlanna, Reveals Her Persuading Factor To Play The Role

No DCEU fan can argue over the casting for Aquaman. The standalone movie has signed on some of the best actors and actresses in the industry. While it may be a Warner Bros. movie, it looks like Director James Wan was the persuading factor in convincing top celebrities to play a fictional role in the DC movie.

Recently, Nicole Kidman revealed her reason for taking on the role of Queen Atlanna for Aquaman. As expected, Wan has played his part in hyping the character.

“The reason why I love [Aquaman] is James Wan is an Australian, and I’ve followed his career since he started. He’s a really good friend of mine, and he offered to let me play Queen Atlanna,” she says. “As soon as he said I could wear mother-of-pearl and be a mermaid warrior, I said I’m done. Please. If there is one thing I have to do in my life, I have to be that. [Laughs] Because, you’ve got to have some fun.” (Via: EW)

Kidman’s role will feature her as the birth mother of Arthur Curry a.k.a Aquaman (Momoa) and the Queen of Atlantis. It is possible that her character will appear in a flashback sequence to explain the origin of Aquaman. However, we might also get to see her in the present timeline of the movie.

Wan also played an important role in casting Patrick Wilson for Aquaman. During earlier announcements, the director revealed that Wilson will play as Orm/Ocean Master in the standalone movie. Wilson and Wan have worked together on various projects. The actor is popularly known for playing his role in horror flicks like Insidious and The Conjuring, both directed by Wan. But Wilson has been associated with Warner Bros. in the past, the actor played as Niteowl in Watchmen.

Currently, the team is in Australia for the filming of Aquaman. Earlier during Cinemacon, Jason Momoa revealed that he will be traveling to the country for of his standalone movie.

Photographs have confirmed that Momoa has reached Australia for his filming schedule. Fans can check it out below.
