After the new footage from Aquaman got pretty positive feedback from the ComicCon 2018 attendees, fan’s excitement for the film has grown manifolds. They are now excited to know how will Aquaman’s origin story unfold.
Entertainment Online got a chance to interact with the film’s main cast Jason Momoa and Amber Heard ahead of Warner Bros. CinemaCon presentation. Momoa, who first debuted as Arthur Curry/Aquaman in Justice League, will reprise his role in the upcoming film.
During the interview, the actor said that Aquaman’s origin story will highlight everything about the character and the reason why he has been away from his home Atlantis for so many years.
“I think after Justice League, everyone got a pretty refreshing look at what Zack [Snyder] intended for Aquaman.” Momoa said. “He’s a little grump and gruffy. Now, we get to know why he’s that way. We’re in the origin story, and we’re going to find out why he wasn’t loved in Atlantis and why he wasn’t loved on the surface. Now he has something that’s beautiful that can help the world…And it’s someone bringing it out of you even though you don’t think you have it.”
Amber Heard, who is portraying the character of Mera in the film, told ET that the film will offer a real introduction of Aquaman to the world.
“We’ve never seen Aquaman in the world,” the actress said. “This is our real introduction to this new version of it. And what better way to do it?”
Momoa also praised the work of Nicole Kidman who plays Arthur Curry’s mother, Queen Atlanna. He said that she is one of the greatest actresses he has ever worked with.
Heard said Nicole is one of the most beautiful on the inside, soulful, incredibly kind-hearted women. She added that the Oscar-winning actress is a powerhouse and that she was truly honored to work with her.
Fans will get to see more of Aquaman in action when the film debuts in theatres on December 21, 2018. Currently, fans are awaiting the first teaser release for the film. but it looks like it won’t be hitting anytime soon as Director James Wan himself said that there’s more work to be done and journalists who had the opportunity to see the teaser stated that it was a very rough footage which was still a work in progress.
