It recently came to light that DC Film’s Aquaman, which completed its principal photography in October last year, is currently undergoing reshoots and additional photography. There’s absolutely nothing to worry about as reshoot has become the new norm with major Hollywood blockbusters. The film has reportedly been tested very well among audiences.
Director James Wan recently revealed on social media that actor Randall Park has been added to the Aquaman cast as Dr. Stephen Shin.
“So happy and fortunate to be finally working with this man, Randall Park, on pickups,” Wan’s Twitter post read.
A lot of fans thought that Park was added to the film’s cast as part of additional photography. But Wan came forward to clarify by tweeting to Youtuber Grace Randolph that Randall Park as Dr. Shin is not a new character. He added that Park was a part of Aquaman from day one, it was just that they did not get a chance to film his scenes until now.
“Hiya Grace! Love your stuff, so I’ll speak up. I didn’t add a new character now, Dr. Shin was in the script since day one. I had cast Randall a year ago in Aust (I’m a big fan of his/love FOTB), but I didn’t shoot his stuff till now. Hence, it’s literally “pickups” whim,” the post read.
Park will appear in two comic book movies this year, the first being Aquaman and the second being Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man & The Wasp. Talking about Park’s character of Dr. Stephen Shin, he was a friend of Arthur’s father, Tom Curry, who helped Arthur learn to use his special powers. But, the two turned into foes when Shin attempted to kill Arthur when he refused to give him information about Atlantis.
Jason Momoa, who portrays the iconic DC hero in the film, also took to social media to share a set photo from Aquaman reshoots. He mentioned in the post that he is almost done with the additional photography for Aquaman.
Aquaman is scheduled to hit theaters on December 21, 2018, in the US.
