Aquaman: Yahya Abdul Mateen Hints His New Role As Black Manta In Photo, Details

It was earlier revealed that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was in early talks to don as Black Manta for James Wan’s Aquaman. Moreover, Warner Bros. also made it official by sending an offer after considering various actors to play the supervillain role.

Since then, we have not got a word from the studio if Mateen has signed the deal to star in Aquaman but recently, the actor shared a photo on Twitter which indicates that he might already be on board.

Mateen tweeted a dark and blurry image which revealed laser-sharp light shining in dark. Fans on Twitter were quick to realize that it could be Black Manta’s head gear.

Going by the shape of the laser, it is likely that Mateen was testing out wearing the Black Manta suit. If so, this confirms that the actor is on board and might also be in Australia for the filming of Aquaman.

Earlier at Cinemacon, Jason Momoa revealed that he will be traveling to Australia for the shooting of his standalone movie. The Aquaman actor was later spotted arriving at the country.

Actress Amber Heard has also been training rigorously for her role as Mera in Aquaman. A clip of the Atlantian queen showing off her new moves was shared on Instagram. Fans can check it out below.

In DC Universe, Black Manta is known to be Aquaman’s sworn enemy. In several instances, the supervillian has managed to cause immense chaos that required the entire Justice League’s act to stop him.

Fans interested in seeing Mateen on the big screen can watch him play as a police officer in Baywatch releasing later this year on May 26th. Aquaman will hit theaters on December 21st, 2018. But fans will get to see Momoa and Heard get down to action in Justice League releasing on November 17th, 2017.
