Netflix’s Arcane season 1 is being hailed among League of Legend fans for finally breaking the “video game adaptation curse” in Hollywood. Fortunately, the animated series is returning for another season and it looks like the wait won’t be too long, or at least according to the CEO of Riot Games.
After the nail-biting cliffhanger in season 1, it’s already confirmed the Riot Games’ animated adaptation is renewed for season 2 at the streaming giant network.
Arcane’s success speaks for itself after the series quickly dominated Squid Game to become Netflix’s most-watched in just three days of its debut on November 6. As of this writing, the animated adaptation continues to stay at the top after the release of Act III, even topping international contenders such as Hellbound, Tiger King and Cowboy Bebop.
As exciting as the show’s renewal sounds, Riot Games CEO also mentioned in a tweet the painstaking year’s long process that went behind developing Arcane season 1, six-year to be precise. Luckily, the wait won’t be too long though it’s confirmed it won’t be in 2022. Readers can check out the tweet below.

The show is also one of the few to receive a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and holds a 9.4 IMDB rating. As a critically and fan acclaimed series, there’s no doubt more fans of the game will be interested in the upcoming season as well.
Arcane is based on Riot Games’ League of legends but serves as a prequel to the game’s storyline and characters. The series centers over a utopian realm called Piltover and oppressed underground known as Zaun. It explores the journey of League champion sisters Jinx (voiced by Ella Purnell) and Vi (Hailee Steinfeld). Rumors hint at a 2023 release schedule for Arcane season 2 so keep following for more updates. For now, fans can watch the first season 1 streaming on Netflix.
