The upcoming premiere of Arrow season 6 is one the most anticipated episode due to the cliff-hanger ending in season 5 finale. As intense it seemed it looks like our favorite characters have managed to make it out alive. But the death of one may have changed the stakes.
Minor spoilers for season 6 below.
EW’s fall TV preview special double issue contained new details about Arrow season 6. Going by the conversations with EP Marc Guggenheim, it looks like the death of Samantha Clayton (Played by Anna Hopkins) is certain and it forces Oliver Queen to be the Father William (Jack Moore) never had.
“The theme of the season is family, but it’s all the different interpretations of the word,” said Guggenheim. It looks like that applies to villainous characters such as Deathstroke as well. On the subject of family, another character from the show may be on the path to changing her M.O to a superhero rather than being known as a supervillain.
Katie Cassidy’s Black Canary is no more and the mantle has also been passed on to Juliana Harkavy’s Dinah. But Cassidy may once again become a recurring character in the series if Black Siren manages to recover. Here’s what the actress had to say.
“She’s at a crossroads,” said Cassidy. “Things that will really [get through to] her is family,” hints the actress.
Black Siren is already surrounded by few characters such as Stephen Amell’s Oliver and Paul Blackthorne’s Quentin Lance who remind the supervillain of her past life as Laurel on Earth-2. In a preview with TVLine, EP Wendy Mericle gave a similar statement on Black Siren’s possible future with the good guys.
“I don’t know if there’s any question about whether or not the [idea] of redemption will come up; it has to,” said Wendy. “Her father is there. Oliver is there. Everyone is going to be asking whether or not it’s possible to find a little piece of Laurel, the Laurel Lance they knew and loved, in there somewhere.”
Perhaps, the only person that could get through Black Siren is White Canary (played by Caity Lotz). In an earlier interview with CBR, Cassidy also hinted that there’s an opportunity for both characters to face-off in the upcoming season.
Arrow season 6 will premiere on October 12th. The episode will air on Thursday instead of its usual Wednesday schedule.
