The CW President Talks Arrowverse Shows’ Future, Assures Return

The CW’s Arrowverse shows—The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl—have just reached the midpoint of their respective seasons, but speculations about their renewal for a new season are already making the rounds. Fans are wondering whether the fan-favorite shows will return for a new season this fall or not.

According to The CW president Mark Pedowitz, fans need not worry, the superheroes are here to stay. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour on Sunday, he talked about the Arrowverse’s series’ future and he said he is “optimistic” about their return next season.

“We haven’t renewed anything yet,” Pedowitz told aforementioned website. “We’re not quite ready to do that. We’re a couple of weeks out. I’m pretty confident a lot of the [CW] slate is coming back. We’re just not ready to make that a formal announcement yet.”

There are a few reasons why fans have been worried about the future of their favorite shows. Recently, The CW announced the change in the time slot of Legends of Tomorrow. As the network prepares for the premiere of Black Lightning, Legends have been moved to Monday’s 9 pm slot, following the Supergirl.

Meanwhile, Arrow is in the sixth season. Several websites are speculating that this is the time when the network will negotiate new contracts with the cast.

At the same time, Pedowitz promised that the delay in the renewal announcement has nothing to do with sexual harassment allegations on Andrew Kreisberg. As per the president, it is too early for the announcement.

“It is only Jan. 7. It’s just a question of the board and I getting together and having a discussion about it. We just weren’t ready with the holidays and this came just days later. We’ll get there. I’m confident most of our schedule is coming back,” Pedowitz explained.

The Arrowverse series will return this January for the second half of their current season. Supergirl Season 3 midseason premiere airs on Jan. 15. The Flash Season 4 returns on Jan. 16. Arrow Season 6 midseason premiere airs Jan. 18 on The CW. As per the previous report, the network released an exciting new Arrowverse midseason trailer.  Keep visiting Pursue News for more news and updates.
