It is not the first that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has held a funeral. This happened in Captain America: Civil War too where Agent Peggy Carter was laid to rest. Would it be another Avenger who would die? It remains to be seen.
Since the fight is against the big and bad Thanos (Josh Brolin) created by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is not surprising if certain key characters might die in the film. It is also possible that the mourning scene is for someone who died in its prequel Avengers: Infinity War.
Another supporting factor suggesting the possible death of a key member in the film is that few of the actors like Chris Evans (Captain America) and Robert Downey Jr.(Tony Stark) are nearing the end of their contract with MCU after Avengers 4.
Other movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe expected to hit the theaters soon includes Thor: Ragnarok on November 2, 2017, Black Panther on February 16, 2018, Avengers: Infinity War on May 4, 2018, Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6, 2018, Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019, the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 5, 2019, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2020. Avengers 4 movie is expected to hit the theaters on May 3, 2019
