Avengers: Endgame Director Joe Russo Responds To Multiverse Theory & More

Since the release of Avengers: Infinity War, Reddit has been one of the social media sites majorly known for churning out several theories on what lies ahead in Avengers: Endgame and those theories have also managed to go viral. Surprisingly, it seems to have caught the attention of director Joe Russo as well.

Recently, Joe Russo was present at the Fan event held for the promotions of Avengers: Endgame at Mumbai, India. Pursue News attended the event and its press conference where Joe was asked a few questions by a person in the crowd related to fan theories which we may have already come across on Reddit. You can check out the video below.

The fan started by asking Joe about the 32 character posters which were recently released for Avengers: Endgame. The director was queried over why four of the posters (Nick Fury, Valkyrie, Gamora and Hawkeye) shows the characters staring directly towards the camera and if there’s a theory behind that. But Russo asked the fan not to look deep into it.

You know look. One thing we love about Marvel fans is that they read something into everything,” Russo says. “They do our job for us, right. No, I wouldn’t put much stock into that theory.”

The second question asked by the fan was related to the number “1604” which appears in the Avengers: Endgame trailer and turns out the numerical is connected to a Marvel comic book which takes on the parallel universe concept. From the looks of it, Russo seems to have already come across this theory on Reddit.

[Laughs] Uh… Are you on Reddit a lot? Is that where you are getting these? Are you the guy on Reddit that’s writing these theories?” Joe Russo said. “I’m not going to confirm or deny any of this. No. It’s not implying the multiverse. Sorry.”

Lastly, the fan pressed the director to answer a question related to Fantastic Four character Reed Richards and if he ends up assisting Ant-Man in knowing more about the Quantum Realm. And as expected, Russo simply asked the fan and the entire crowd not to press him with questions that could possibly spoil the plot to Avengers: Endgame.

Here’s the thing. I’ll take any questions about the thematics in Endgame, but I am not going to answer any questions about the plot of Endgame,” Joe Russo replied with a smile. “We spent three years protecting the plot of the movie from Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo. So I am not going to come here and suddenly give away the plot of the film, but I appreciate and admire your effort.”

Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 25.
