Avengers: Endgame is inching closer to its worldwide release and the directors of the film, Russo Brothers have so far done a great job in not revealing any plot details except discuss the thematics of the movie. However, the directors have been open to reveal some ideas they had initially planned for Avengers: Infinity War.
Joe Russo recently was in Mumbai, India for the promotions of Avengers: Infinity War and was interviewed by Film Companion. During the interview, the director spoke about the process he and Anthony Russo go through in writing down ideas in the initial stages.
Russo revealed that characters from the movie are put up on boards in the form of cards and they are moved around based on how they decide to group them.
“Like Infinity War, there’s versions of groupings that would have shocked people. Based on how the movie eventually turned out, which characters went where. I think at one point Thor originally was gonna show up in Titan instead of Wakanda,” said Russo.
“Its always shifting depending on where the narrative is going. We ultimately felt that we wanted the climax that happened on Earth so now we put Thor on Earth.”
The decision to have Thor’s arrival in Titan may have entirely changed the film’s narrative. For instance, if Thor’s battle with Thanos took place on Titan, it may have eventually resulted in Thanos’s snap on Titan instead of Earth. Moreover, it would also mean that Thanos would have collected all the Infinity Stones already. And perhaps, Iron Man and Nebula wouldn’t have ended up helpless on the dead planet alone since Thor would have transported them back to Earth.
Avengers: Endgame will mark the end of Marvel’s 21 film arc with the final film focusing on the original six Avengers. So far, according to the directors, none have guessed the film’s plot or ending. So it seems like the entire fandom will find uncover the plot later this month.
Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 25.
