For the sake of avoiding any forms of leaks during production, the filmmakers of Avengers: Endgame took many steps to ensure that details of certain scenes or any information related to the project didn’t manage to go past except the few important individuals. Unfortunately, actor Jeremy Renner and a lot of the cast members weren’t those individuals and filming their part for the movie wasn’t easy and in fact confusing at times as well.
Renner was in attendance at the Celebrity Fan Fest in San Antonio this past weekend and spoke about the intro scene from Avengers: Endgame which involves the dusting away of his character’s (Hawkeye) family members. Surprisingly, the actor revealed that he wasn’t aware of the emotional dusting away of his family due to the events of Snap. And was directed to just run around in the assumption that they just disappeared.
“When we did shoot that, we shot back and forth between movies,” Renner said of the process. “I remember shooting with my family, teaching my daughter how to shoot a bow and arrow and I turn around and they’re just gone. And I didn’t know what was happening, I really didn’t. I didn’t know what was happening in Infinity War and everyone turning to dust, I didn’t know that. So when I did that, we shot the scene and I was just like ‘Where did they go?’ because they just went away. They didn’t tell me.”
For those unaware, Lila Barton was played by Endgame co-director Joe Russo’s daughter Ava. Linda Cardellini who first appeared as Clint’s wife Laura in Avengers: Age of Ultron–reprised her role for Avengers: Endgame. but its currently unclear if the two actors would consider appearing again if Marvel Studios decides to go forward with the Hawkeye series for Disney+. It must be noted that the studio is still yet to officially announce this particular series.
