Every little detail related to Avengers 4 has resulted in a social media meltdown since the start and it continues to do as MCU fans wait for the release of Avengers: Endgame second trailer. A few months ago, fans weren’t even aware of the title of the movie while rumors suggested several titles with one of them being ‘Annihilation’. but it seems like actor Paul Rudd and television host Seth Meyers had given the title way before the hype began but none of us realized it.
Earlier last year, Rudd had made an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers to promote Ant-Man and the Wasp. From the looks of it, Meyers seems to be talking about the connection between Ant-Man and the Wasp and Avengers 4 and while Rudd tries to avoid spoiling any detail, Meyers leaks the title.
“I don’t know how that could mess up, though, because I feel like that would make more people see the movie, which is the endgame.”
The two soon seem to realize what they just unveiled and begin to smile, before Rudd responds “You know what? You’re right.” You can check out the video below.
It is possible that the use of the word ‘Endgame’ could be a mere coincidence. but in a recent interview with Collider, MCU boss Kevin Feige did suggest that the title was confirmed even before Rudd gave this interview.
“Well, I think I’d said that it all had gotten blown out of proportion to some extent,” Feige said. “But it was a spoiler, because if you knew before Infinity War came out that the next movie was called Endgame, then you know that there wasn’t an ending to Infinity War. But that had been the title of the movie from the moment we conceived of doing the two films. In large part, because…it’s seeded right there. I mean, it’s seeded in Ultron.”
It is still unknown what Endgame has in store for fans. The recent somber teaser for Avengers: Endgame does suggest a grim and gritty battle between the surviving heroes and Thanos. but knowing what the Russo Brothers are capable of, nothing is certain.
Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26.
