Avengers: Infinity War Actor Paul Bettany Wasted 10 Hours Reading The Wrong Script Twice

Avengers: Infinity War directors Anthony and Joe Russo did their best to keep the film’s plot and storyline, especially the ending, a secret not only from Marvel fans but also from the actors working in the film.

During an interview with MTV at the recently held San Diego Comic-Con 2018 event, actor Paul Bettany, who plays Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealed that he was given fake Avengers: Infinity War scripts twice.

Here’s my experience,” Bettany said. “I read the script and then the Russo Brothers rung me up and said, ‘what’d you think?’ I said, ‘oh it’s great’ and they went ‘that’s not the script’ and I went ‘what?’ They went ‘oh it’s got lots of different, it’s got a different ending, it’s got different turns in it, certain people die that don’t die.’ … and they said, ‘but we want you to read the real script.'”

The Vision actor went on to explain that being a dyslexic in real life, it almost took him five hours to go through the film’s fake script before the Russo brothers told him that the script was fake. The next time when Bettany was locked in a room to read the real script, he found that the script was the same as the first one. So, literally, all his efforts went in vain.

Now, I’m dyslexic so it takes me like five hours to read this and then they lock me in a room to read the real script and it’s the same script, so I rung them up and I said ‘um’ and they said, ‘what happened’ I went, and I read “Code Red” or whatever they called it and he said, ‘yeah what do you think.’ I said, ‘I went it was the same script’ and he asked me some questions and then he went ‘aw man they gave you the wrong script again,'” The Avengers: Infinity War actor explained.

So, after ten hours given over to reading scripts that I was never going to make I decided not to. I said, ‘what happens at the end of this one?’ and Joe just said, ‘I think me, and Anthony are going to have to leave town.’ So that’s what, we knew it was bad.”

When asked about Avengers 4, Bettany said that he has no idea about what’s going to happen in the upcoming film. The only thing he said was, “Snitches end up in stitches.”

While Marvel skipped the SDCC 2018 Hall H this year, it did promote Avengers: Infinity War’s home video release. There was a huge Thanos Lego statue exhibited at the event. The film studio also set up a grief station for fans who were still in shock about what happened post-Thanos’ snap.

Avengers: Infinity War will debut on Digital HD on July 31 and will be rolled out on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on August 14. The next Avengers 4 film is currently scheduled to release on May 3, 2019.
