The fact that Chris Evans himself announced that Avengers 4 could be his last MCU movie as the fan-favorite superhero Captain America has already left fans wondering if his character could be the one to meet the end of his fate in Avengers: Infinity War. But thankfully during a recent interview, Evans has hinted that there might be room for his character’s return even after Avengers 4.
In an interview with Good Morning America, when Evans was asked about his exit from the wildly popular franchise, he teased that he isn’t completely out just yet.
“Well, the contracts done,” the Captain America actor said. “A lot of our contracts are through. Myself, [Robert] Downey, [Chris] Hemsworth, we all kind of started roughly at the same time. I mean, I think we all through Avengers 4 kind of wrap it up. But at this point, I don’t know what’s next, but yeah by 2019 that’s it.”
When Michael Strahan said that “We hope that’s not it, we hope there’s more,” Evans responded saying, “Well, we’ll see!”
So, definitely, with his “we’ll see” remark, Evans leaves the door open for Captain America’s return, might be as Steve Rogers, even after the 2019 Avengers film. This is enough to get fans excited, at least for now.
During the interview, Evans also revealed that he had access to the entire Avengers: Infinity War script. He admitted that he even took a copy of the script back home which is prohibited in order to avoid leaks.
“They let me read it, but you gotta get fussy,” the actor said. “The level of secrecy has only increased over the years, so worried about leaks. So, you have kind of put your foot down and say, ‘Give me the script.’ …I took one home. You’re not supposed to, but I took one home. This is actually going to get me in trouble.’”
Earlier, actor Sebastian Stan also said that he isn’t aware if Cap survives the upcoming threequel. Fans will have the answer to that question this Friday when the movie hits theaters.
