Avengers: Infinity War Directors On Loophole That Brings Back Characters

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War is almost close to hitting the $2 billion mark at the global box office. Fans loved everything about the movie except for the heart-wrenching ending that saw a lot of their favorite superheroes turned into dust.

The deaths left fans with several unanswered questions regarding the future of the superheroes especially after Avengers: Infinity War writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely claimed that the dead characters might not come to life again in Avengers 4.

However, fans are still hopeful that Avengers 4 will undo some deaths as a few of the deceased characters already have their solo movies lined up for release including Spider-Man, Black Panther, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. In fact, David Bautista, who portrays the character of Drax, has already confirmed he will reappear in Avengers 4 as well as the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

But, Avengers: Infinity War directors Anthony and Joe Russo don’t agree with the fans’ conclusion. During a recent interview with Huffington Post, the Russo brothers hinted the characters appearing in another movie may not necessarily mean their survival is on the cards because of the timeline.

Here’s the thing, I think it’s important to remember anything is possible in the MCU [Marvel Cinematic Universe],” Anthony said.

Anthony also pointed out that there are several inventive ways in which the characters’ stories can be continued without undoing the ending of Infinity War.

Just because there’s a sequel on the books doesn’t mean … people become accustomed to time moving linearly in the MCU,” Anthony added. “That doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. There’s a lot of very inventive ways of where the story can go from here.”

Joe also reiterated Anthony’s idea that Marvel movies’ stories don’t need to happen in chronological order.

There’s four years between ‘Guardians 2’ and ‘Infinity War,’” Joe said. “That’s a long time and a lot of ‘Guardians’ stories to tell. Again, as Anthony said, don’t expect everything to move forward in a linear fashion in the Marvel universe.”

Well, only time will tell what Avengers 4 turns out to be. The fourth Avengers movie is set to release on May 3, 2019. It is rumored that Marvel may reveal some Avengers 4 details at the CineEurope convention in Spain this week.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently running in theatres.

Tell us, who do you think will survive and who won’t at the end of Avengers 4 in the comments below.
