Avengers: Infinity War- Experience Thanos In His Original Size In IMAX

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige along with Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo are requesting fans to watch the film in IMAX for the best experience. The film studio has rolled out a new featurette that shows the directors explaining how the IMAX format enhances the film. Notably, Avengers: Infinity War is the first Hollywood film that has been shot entirely using IMAX cameras.

We look at all the different aspect ratios, but the pure form and the biggest form of all the information is that IMAX frame,” Feige explained in the video. “There are things happening above and below the frame. So, if you’re not seeing it in IMAX, you’re not seeing it… When you have a storyline this big and when you have the promise of a culmination of all these different storylines, we wanted to tell it in the biggest format possible.”

Joe pointed out that an IMAX screen has a different height than a traditional movie screen. So, audiences who will go to watch Avengers: Infinity War in an IMAX theater will see a much taller view of the image than in a standard theater screen. As the image will be expanded, it will take up audiences’ entire field of vision making them feel that they are a part of the film.

There’s more information in the frame,” Joe added. “There’s more storytelling to look at. You see more of the characters. You see more of their powers. You see more of the scale of the film. It’s just presented on a much grander frame than in a traditional movie theater.”

Anthony Russo also pointed out that shooting tall characters such as Thanos was better shot in IMAX cameras which will also give the audience a chance to experience the film in a different and much better aspect ratio.

“We have characters in this movie like Thanos who are taller than normal human beings are. when you are framing those kind of characters in the same frame it can become challenging with a normal aspect ratio to like hold those hieght differenstials and a single frame and it forces you into certain angles and centertain types of frame and lenses and having that extra verticality like Joe was talking about it gives us a wider ranger of how we frame and how we shoot these characters, how we present them in the same frame together.”

Anthony Russo also pointed out how characters like Thanos who are estentially larger than other characters
