New Avengers: Infinity War high-resolution concept art reveals alternate designs for the terrifying Red Skull that the film’s creative team was considering in the project’s early stages.
Red Skull was the villain in Captain America: The First Avenger and was believed to have died after being sucked into another dimension from tampering with the Tesseract. The character briefly appeared in Infinity War in the Soul Stone scene. Portrayed by Walking Dead Star Ross Marquand, the character was shown as the keeper of the Soul Stone on Vormir. Notably, the final design for the character that showed up in Infinity War is way different than the concept art looks imagined for him initially.

The scene in question was a very emotional scene which saw Thanos making a big decision to throw his favorite daughter Gamora off the side of a mountain for the Soul Stone. Some new hi-res concept art from the Marvel Studios movie shows alternate plans designed for Gamora’s death scene.
One of the concept art shows Thanos tossing his favorite daughter into a hole rather than off a cliff. Another one shows Gamora’s reaction to her father’s heinous action which looks pretty much identical to the actual scene that made it to the final cut.
Last week, a batch of concept art from the new book Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War – The Art of the Movie offered a look at some of the early character designs for Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man, Winter Soldier, Black Widow, and Thanos. The God of Thunder was imagined using a gun instead of Stormbreaker, while Thanos was imagined walking around battling The Avengers without a shirt.
It is expected that the first Avengers 4 trailer and its title might get revealed by the end of this month.
Avengers 4 is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2019.
