Avengers: Infinity War co-director Anthony Russo has stated in a recent interview that the film’s scenes featuring Vision, portrayed by Paul Bettany, have been structured like a horror movie. He explained that each scene of the film has been constructed using different genre templates and the scenes with Vision and Scarlet Witch in Stockholm were developed as a horror film.
“We structured that scene more like a horror film,” Russo said in an interview with Empire Magazine. “We try to give each sequence in the film a slightly different tone and concept, based on the characters driving that sequence.”
Notably, both Scarlet Witch and Vision were introduced first in the 2015 film Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the first Avengers: Infinity War trailer, a couple of scenes suggest things won’t look good for Vision. The reason behind it is the Mind Stone, which is one of the six Infinity Stones, embedded in his forehead.
The Mad Titan a.k.a Thanos is on a quest to collect all six Infinity Stones in the upcoming Marvel film. The trailer shows someone seemingly attempting to gouge the Stone out of Vision’s forehead while he screams in agony.
Vision’s developing relationship with Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen, is another angle which Marvel might want to play up to. Avengers: Infinity War makers have already teased the death of some of the important Marvel characters in the film, it is expected that Vision might be one of them. but a BTS photo from Avengers 4 also suggested that Vision might not meet his end in the threequel.
If in case Vision dies in the upcoming Marvel superhero film, it is likely that Scarlet Witch will carry the grief and anger into the as-of-yet untitled Infinity War sequel, Avengers 4. At this point of time, it remains unclear if Vision could survive without the Mind Stone.
We will find out more about Vision’s fate when Avengers: Infinity War lands in theatres on April 27th.
