‘Avengers: Infinity War’: Thanos Survived Titans’s Extinction Due To His Exile

Marvel fans would agree that Thanos’ decision to wipe off half of the universe population with just a snap in Avengers: Infinity War was wrong. But, there are also some fans who think the Mad Titan’s reason behind it is justified.

To recall, during the battle on Titan, when some of the earth’s mightiest heroes and the Guardians of the Galaxy members tried to stop Thanos, it was revealed that the mad titan’s homeworld, Titan, was ruined due to overpopulation which ultimately resulted in the extinction of all its inhabitants. However, it wasn’t revealed how the Mad Titan survived the extinction.

According to Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War — The Art of the Movie, Thanos was not present during Titan’s destruction. He was exiled for proposing the idea to wipe out half of Titan’s population to save the rest. He had no other option left but to witness his planet’s ill fate from exile. This was the reason that forced Thanos to obtain the Infinity Gauntlet to balance the universe.

It remains to be seen if Avengers 4 will throw some light on Thanos’ backstory.

Well, there’s also another strange thing about Thanos that most of the fans would have noticed. In Avengers: Infinity War, the Mad Titan did not kill any of the Marvel superheroes during the battle on Titan and Wakanda. He didn’t attempt to Kill Thor either, who nearly killed him. He didn’t choose to go after the superheroes who tried to stop him once he obtained the stones from them.

Now, Marvel Studios’ head of visual development Ryan Meinerding has finally revealed the reason why Thanos decided to spare Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

The plan of getting all the Infinity Stones is putting [Thanos] in the position of being so powerful that he is sort of calmer, more single-minded, and more reasonable,” Meinerding said in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War – The Art of the Movie. “He is not necessarily worried about killing the heroes. As long as he ends up with the stones, he can accomplish what he wants to.”

We will next see Thanos in action in Avengers 4 when the surviving Avengers will once again go up against him.

Avengers 4 will premiere in theaters on May 3, 2019.
