Batgirl: Brenden Fraser spotted on set, Ivory Aquino’s Trans character details & more

It’s raining Batgirl content as HBO Max’s DCEU film continues filming in Glasgow, with another new set photo of Leslie Grace in the purple Bat-suit leaking online. Yet few new developments spotted by paps show Brenden Fraser finally on the set.

Batgirl is expected to be the first DC film to feature the altered continuity of DC Extended Universe after the events of The Flash movie. Yet set props from Batgirl have intrigued many fans with references to Batman v Superman and Lex Luthor. While the wait to uncover DC’s multiverse mystery is long – set clips and images have offered some insight on Micheal Keaton’s Batman, who will be replacing Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight.

One such new clip from Batgirl showed the first look at Fraser though it’s uncertain if his attire was for the film. The Mummy actor will play Firefly, the antagonist in Batgirl. Added, cast member Ivory Aquino has been revealed to play Alysia Yeoh – as described by Grace herself in her recent Instagram stories.

For those unaware, the character is prominent in Barbara Gordon’s arc, appearing as her close friend. It must be noted she’s also a Trans character in the DC Universe so it will be interesting to see Yeoh, a transgender activist portray the role.

All eyes still remain on Batgirl’s costume and a new set photo showing Grace donning the suit along with goggles (night vision?) shows a slightly different version of the cape when compared to the official first look photo. It’s unclear if this is the main attire or if Barbara could receive a second suit from Bruce Wayne at some point in the film.

Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Batgirl also stars J.K. Simmons as Jim Gordon, reprising his role from Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Batgirl release date is still TBA but is expected to hit sometime in late 2022.
