Baywatch was one of the most expected movies to release this summer. Unfortunately, it looks like the critics aren’t happy about the film as much as fans are.
The reviews for Baywatch are out but going by its criticism the film won’t be a massive success. Furthermore, it also looks to be branded with the same rating the classic TV show received.
The film’s rating has already tanked on Rotten Tomatoes with over 80 rotten reviews. Currently, it has an underperforming rating at 19%. However, the audience still seems to be excited to watch Baywatch as the audience score is at 64% at present (all numbers stated are subject to change based on upcoming reviews from critics and fans).
While the film continues to receive bad reviews from critics, that doesn’t seem to stop the studio from green lighting a sequel. Variety recently caught up with Producer Beau Flynn at the New York screening of Baywatch.
Flynn revealed to Variety that they’re bringing cast Dwayne Johnson and the others for the sequel. Furthermore, the studio also seems confident about the story as well.
“We have an amazing story already,” said Flynn at the screening. “We’re bringing back Shannon and Swift who wrote on the first one, and I know Dwayne would be in, I know Zac and all the girls would be. We just have this really cool idea to put them in this whole new world. We would take it overseas.”
While Baywatch might have failed to appeal to the critics, that doesn’t assure its failure among fans as well. Going by the ongoing support, the film might succeed at box office thanks to the loving audience.
