Ben Affleck Didn’t Contact Kevin Smith Even After His Heart-Attack Incident

Renowned filmmaker Kevin Smith, who suffered from a massive heart attack back in February, recently opened up about the support that he has got from his family, friends and the Hollywood industry after he survived the near-fatal health condition.

During a recent interview with The Daily Beast, Smith revealed that after the heart attack incident he re-connected with a lot of people with whom he wasn’t on good terms before. He mentioned the names of Linda Fiorentino, Chris Hardwick and Jason Lee.

However, when the Clerks director was asked if Ben Affleck who is on “not so great terms” with him contacted him, he revealed that he didn’t hear from the actor even after the heart attack.

“I wouldn’t call it not so great terms, but he hasn’t spoken to me in years,” Smith said. “No, I didn’t hear from him after the heart attack.”

Kevin Smith seemed to be fine with Affleck not reconnecting with him as he believes that the Batman actor might not even know about the incident. He admitted the fact that he might not be as important for Affleck as he is for the filmmaker.

“Of the Chasing Amy kids, I heard from Jason Lee, but I didn’t hear from Ben,” Smith added. “Which is fine. Maybe he didn’t even hear about it. I think he probably plays a more prominent role in my mythology than I play in his mythology anymore.”

Smith recalled how he inadvertently embarrassed Affleck during a celebration of Chasing Amy’s 20th anniversary, where he revealed to audiences that Affleck once said “‘A man kissing another man is the greatest acting challenge an actor can ever face.’”

The director went on to talk about how the heart attack has brought positive changes to his life. He said that the heart attack was the best thing that ever happened to him as it not saved his life and also encouraged him to head on to a healthier path. Turning vegan has helped Kevin Smith lose more than 30 pounds until now.

Smith’s next project in line is the Jay and Silent Bob Reboot movie which doesn’t have a release date as of yet.
