In Batman v Superman, The Batman was portrayed grumpy and violent, capable of even going to the extent of killing Superman. Fortunately, In Justice League, it looks like the character’s dark and gritty portrayal has changed going by Ben Affleck’s comment.
Entertainment Weekly recently shared more comments from Ben Affleck on Justice League from their interview. The actor openly spoke about his character, The Batman and shared some details on how the Dark Knight has changed for the good due to the events that occurred in Batman v Superman.
“BvS departed a little bit from the traditional Batman,” Affleck said. “He started out with all this rage directed at Superman, because of his coworkers who had died in the fight Superman had with Zod. He was holding on to a lot of anger, in a little bit of an irrational way. Whereas this is a much more traditional Batman. He’s heroic. He does things in his own way, but he wants to save people, help people.”
“This is more in keeping with the canon of how Batman’s usually been portrayed, and how he’s portrayed vis a vis the Justice League in the comics,” Affleck explained. “This is more the Batman you would find if you opened up your average Batman comic book.”
“Not that it’s average,” Affleck Added. “I think it’s a really cool story. Actually, it’s sort of a story about multilateralism. It’s not a bad theme to have!”
Earlier when Warner Bros. revealed the synopsis for Justice League, The transformation of The Batman was hinted in the official description. While the “superfriends” portrayal of The Flash and Cyborg has been liked by the masses, it’s not likely that fans would accept the same in the case of The Dark Knight.
Fortunately, going by Affleck’s comment, it looks like the character has been stirred back to the adaptation most fans are familiar of in the usual comics. It seems to suggest that The Batman’s character goes through a transformation from his “restored faith in humanity.”
