Benedict Wong reacts to She-Hulk trailer, series writer teases “lot of cameos”, characters from MCU & Marvel comics

From Daredevil (Charlie Cox) to Wong (Benedict Wong) and even Abomination (Tim Roth) – She-hulk Disney Plus series looks increasingly promising for MCU fans expecting to see a few of their favorite superheroes in guest appearances. Fortunately, show writer Jessica Gao has already assured not just a handful of cameos but even characters from Marvel lore that are yet to debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

She-Hulk is starting to look more like MCU’s version of Better Call Saul, with even star Benedict Wong reacting to the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law SDCC trailer with the hashtag ‘Better call she hulk’. The Multiverse of Madness star was long speculated to appear in the series and the recent new promo outright showed the Sorcerer Supreme chatting with Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) at the Superhero law division. Furthermore, the trailer ended with a teasing glimpse of the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen making a flashy entrance. Though that may not be all, or at least according to She-Hulk writer Gao:

Speaking about her experience working on She-Hulk at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 with Deadline, Gao said the Disney Plus series will contain “a lot of cameos, and a lot of characters that have never existed in the MCU before that we’re pulling out of the comic books.”

“And what I’m most excited about is really getting the time and the space to explore [She-Hulk] fully, because in the Marvel movies, it’s always these high stakes events,” Gao added “The universe is ending, half of the people in existence are getting snapped out. And we never really have the time to really explore who these people are, what are their regular lives like. And what’s really nice about this is we actually the time and the space to do that.”

The debut trailer for She-Hulk already confirmed Frog-Man’s debut and Walters’ rival, Titania played by Jameela Jamil. Moreover, Mark Ruffalo’s Professor Hulk is also in the series though it’s unclear to what extent. In addition, earlier rumors also indicated Fantastic Four character The Thing cameo. With Marvel’s first family film set for Phase 6 with a 2024 release date, it will be an interesting strategy to explore, similar to Spider-Man’s (Tom Holland) surprise cameo in Captain America: Civil War before his standalone feature. Nevertheless, F4’s The Thing appearance is a rumor that should be taken with a grain of salt.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 1 premiere date is set for August 17 on Disney Plus with a weekly release schedule.
