‘Birds of Prey’: Batman Is Missing In Action For 2 Years From Gotham City, Details

The Birds of Prey casting news came with information that the film will be set in Gotham but sans The Batman. The Caped Crusader’s absence from Gotham has left fans wondering about the probable reasons that could have forced the DC superhero to stay away from the city.

According to SuperBroMovies’ Daniel RPK, Batman’s absence from the Gotham city might not be entirely explained in Birds of Prey. He took to Twitter to explain that a line from the Birds of Prey script just mentions that no one in the Gotham city has seen Batman for two years. It might be that Dark Knight is with the League or it is even possible that reason for his absence will be explained in his solo movie.

From what I understand there is a line in the script that someone mentions how no one has seen Batman in Gotham for two years and that’s about it. He’s probably with The League or maybe they’ll answer it in his solo movie somehow,” the tweet read.

Well, another possibility could be that Birds of Prey will be set before Suicide Squad, in the timeline where Bruce Wayne had stopped being Batman. The last time we saw Gotham city was in 2017’s Justice League and Birds of Prey will likely offer the latest look at the place after over a two-year gap. So, we literally have no idea what’s been happening in the city.

Talking more about Birds of Prey, the upcoming film will see Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) come together with Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Renee Montoya to save the life of a little girl named Cassandra Cain from the evil crime lord, Black Mask. Rumors are that Warner Bros. and DC Films are eyeing Ewan McGregor or Sharlto Copley to play the role of Black Mask.

Cathy Yan is directing Birds of Prey from a script by Christina Hodson. The film is set to release in theatres on Feb. 7, 2020.
