‘Birds Of Prey’ Might Not Be The Official Movie Title, According To Its Cinematographer

As pre-production work on Warner Bros. and DC Films’ Birds Of Prey is currently ongoing in full swing, more and more information about the film and its cast and crew members have started pouring in. Going by latest reports it seems Birds of prey will get a new title soon.

During a recent interview with GMA News Online, when Venom cinematographer Matthew Libatique was asked about his upcoming projects, he revealed that his next project will be DC’s Birds of Prey film, which will soon get a different title.

I’m in preparation on a film currently called ‘Birds of Prey,” Libatique said. “It’s probably going to have a different title. It’s with Warner Bros., and the director is Cathy Yen. Who directed a film called ‘Dead Pigs’ which is a Chinese film. I’m excited.”

The Venom cinematographer revealed that he is quite excited about the fact he is working on a DC superhero genre film starring Margot Robbie.

It’s in the superheroes genre but this time it’s in the DC universe, not the Marvel universe,” Libatique said. “Margot Robbie is set to star and I’m excited for that. And then it has a little bit of origin story in it, so it makes it intriguing and it’s very early though, so early discussions.”

Talking more about the film, Birds Of Prey is expected to begin filming in January 2019, under the working title of “Fox Force Five.” The film will see Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) teaming up with DC Comics heroines Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), to rescue Cassandra Cain from the villainous mob boss Black Mask.

Birds Of Prey was penned by Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson and will be directed by Cathy Yan. The film is currently set to release in theaters on February 7, 2020.
