From The Suicide Squad to Black Adam, Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) could be one the first DCEU characters to have secured a place in James Gunn‘s DCU vision. The Director of A.R.G.U.S. could possibly be part of an unannounced DCU project going by a recent cryptic post by the DC Studios boss.
With just a few days left in January, DC Film fans are tirelessly waiting to hear James Gunn’s promised DCU announcement by the end of this month. While he’s yet to tease any details in regards to Superman or the other DC trinity characters – the director may have intentionally let slip interesting breadcrumb info related to Amanda Waller.
It comes as no surprise that Gunn is well into developing new DCU projects with the helmer also serving as the writer for the next Superman reboot movie. The director has been open about his ongoing penning duties by sharing stills on his daily work life. In one such image shared on his Instagram stories, a background note on the monitor, presumable for a DCU project’s treatment or script mentions “Waller”. Readers can check it out below.
Waller also appeared in Peacemaker, further cementing her mark across all versions of DC Films and characters. It will be interesting to see Task Force X head encounter another version of Batman and Superman after her stint with Ben Affleck‘s Dark Knight and Henry Cavill‘s Man of Steel. Moreover, Waller could also serve as a Nexus between the old universe and the new, if Gunn intends on addressing the past events. Waller would by far technically be the only Black Adam character to appear before Dwayne Johnson’s Teth-Adam gets a shot.
The anticipation to hear out Gunn’s roadmap for DCU has been at an all time high since Aquaman 2 star Jason Momoa added steam over rumors of his involvement to play Lobo. It’s unclear if there will be any clarity on the future of existing DC Film characters in the DCU with the cancellation of Doom Patrol indicating no project is in the safe zone until Gunn says otherwise.
