The growing trend of black actors voicing Batman continues and this time, Colman Domingo has been chosen to voice the caped crusader in The Riddler: Secrets in the Dark. The Selma actor will personify Gotham’s vigilante for DC’s Spotify series and the internet is delighted to see a POC & LGBTQ+ actor don the cowl for a DC Comics-based audio drama show.
DC has found another openly gay actor to voice the iconic Batman/Bruce Wayne voice. The Pride community still holds The legendary late Kevin Conroy‘s Batman iteration to high standards since he penned a touching story about being a Gay actor and lending his voice as the Dark Knight. Domingo will become the second openly gay man to portray the famous DC Comics superhero.
Hasan Minhaj will reprise the role of Edward Nygma after voicing the character in Batman: Unburied. The story centers on an unlikely alliance forming between the Dark Knight and The Riddler to put an end to the mysterious killings of Gotham villains by an unknown vigilante.
Some folks recalled how Domingo had become the third Black actor to voice DC’s greatest detective, followed by Jeffrey Wright and Winston Duke. While supporters of Matt Reeves‘ Batman Universe quickly began fan-casting the FTWD star as their personal pick for Clayface or Mr. Freeze -both villains have been rumored for the sequel. Some mistook the announcement as Domingo joining as the caped crusader for James Gunn‘s DCU.

Domingo recently voiced the Unicron in Transformers”: Rise of the Beasts though he is rather well-known for voicing Eddie in BoJack Horseman. The 53-year-old star’s Primetime recognition from Euphoria and his role in Fear The Walking Dead have gained him more prominence in Hollywood in recent years.
Riddler: Secrets in the Dark appears to be set in the same universe as Unburied since several of the cast members such as Jason Isaacs‘ Alfred & Gina Rodriguez‘s Barbara Gordon are returning to voice as well. It is unclear why Winston Duke was replaced.
