Revenge, hypocrisy of Wakanda, and addiction to vibranium is what that drives the villain Ulysses Klaue, says Andy Serkis, who plays the character in one of Marvel’s ambitious project Black Panther.
Andy Serkis, who will portray the villainous weapons dealer Ulysses Klaue has three real reasons that drives him. In an interview with IGN, Serkis said that apart from the “personal vendetta” against the Wakandan king, another motivational factor that drives him is the hypocrisy of Wakanda as it refuses to share its technological advancements from the rest of the world.
“He wants to expose what he thinks is the hypocrisy of Wakanda. That’s really what drives him,” said Serkis about his character Klaue. Back in July, Serkis had given more information regarding Klaue’s anger on Wakanda. Speaking to Comicbook back then, he had said, “He is the only person who has been into Wakanda and seen the wealth that it has and he wants to expose that. He believes them to be a hypocritical country. They’re playing this kind of ‘we’re a third world country’ card and he knows what’s underlying that so he’s trying to expose that.”
Giving more details about the revenge element in the film, Sekis said to IGN, “He is furious about what’s happened in Black Panther. So it is personal with T’Challa.”
When asked whether that was all that he was after, Serkis replied with a laugh that Klaue’s “addiction to vibranium” is also what drives him, referring to the almost indestructible metal native to Wakanda.
Serkis added that Klaue, who was defeated and even, lost an arm in Avengers: Age of Ultron cannot be underestimated. This time around, he will be using “the Zemo approach” by causing strife in Wakanda. Klaue is a “bringer-down of governments, and knows how to play people,” Serkis had said previously.
